SROKSTOUNG International School’s Charity to Prakeab Primary School

Published: 02 Feb 2023

The basic need for every child is to be able to attend school in a safe environment and have sufficient learning materials.

Though education is free for every student in Cambodia, most Cambodian students, particularly rural area students, still face a number of challenges. These challenges include the lack of a better quality of education, financial constraints, a school uniform, the lack of parental motivation, and insufficient learning materials.

To fulfil this need, on January 28, 2023, the school principal and teachers at SROKSTOUNG International School conducted a charity donation by donating 130 packages of learning materials and some cash to 130 students in Prakeab Primary School, located in Msakrang commune, Stoung district, Kampong Thom province.

This charity is an ongoing initiative to help poor and needy students in rural area. We are all the same by blood and we can show the new generations that we can help one another for the good of everyone, both now and in the future.

The school principal of this primary school reported that the school did encounter some difficulties including the lack of teaching and learning materials, the irregular attendance of students attending school due to following their parents to do the farming and find fish, the flood during rainy season, and the lack of parents’ role in encouraging their children to go to school.

However, we were so proud of his teachers and students for their strong commitment in teaching and striving to go to school though facing these difficulties.
